Who is Impact?

Impact is an entertainment start-up with the ambition to change how the entertainment industry does business. They are a mission-driven companytheir goal is to get new, fresh talent to the big screen.

The Challenge

Impact has two main offerings: creative development programs for writers and a digital networking product for entertainment professionals.

The main challenge of the site re-design was to guide different user groups to their respective goals on the site.

It was also important to establish differing, yet cohesive brand aesthetics for Impact’s different offerings.

Their digital product, the Network was about to launch, increasing site traffic by 10 fold, and they needed a fresh aesthetic to reflect their maturity in the tech and entertainment space. They desired a look that was more high-end and aspirational to legitimize them in the space.

The Users

There were two primary use cases for the site based on two personas: writers and entertainment executives. It was important to direct them to their respective goals via design and branding.

Helen, Mid-Career Writer, 34 years old

Helen is a mid-career writer who lives in Boston. She has sold two pilots and is currently writing a feature comedy film. She has connections to the entertainment industry but needs a way to level up her craft and gain more insight into how the industry works. Impact’s Accelerator program would be the ideal way for her to develop and sell her next project.

Sandra, Executive Producer, 61 years old

Sandra is an entertainment industry veteran based in LA. She is an executive producer for Netflix but is having trouble sourcing new, fresh talent. She feels limited by the traditional way the entertainment industry does business - business cards and phone calls. She would love to find a new, groundbreaking project and needs new connections. The Impact Network would expand her access to talented writers and connect her to new development executives.
